Courtney College has been a Colorado resident since 1976, growing up in Evergreen and happy to once again call it home. Courtney and her husband, Kenny, both graduated from Evergreen High School “in the late 80’s,” and look forward to raising their daughter, Sauren, where they once grew up. Fall of 2013, they were blessed to add a very special young Evergreen lady to their family, and are loving the sudden craziness of high school life. Welcome, Sophie! They round out their family with one much-loved rescue dog, two crazy rescue cats, two bunnies (how did THAT happen?) and two very talented and sane-minded horses.
Courtney plays flute professionally, primarily for weddings, open houses, and community and church events. When she’s not in the office or with her family, she is most usually found at the barn, riding and enjoying her horse with her equine-loving friends (loosely translated, that means anything and everything to do with horses, no matter how smelly).
She spent three years of undergraduate studies in San Antonio, Texas at Trinity University after which time she began dental school at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school in 1994, the Pediatric Dental Residency Program took her away from home one final time. She spent 2½ years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Michigan, completing the program with a Master of Science degree. Her research on “Bilateral Mandibular Local Anesthesia,” for which she won national recognition, was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (November 1999), and is to this day required reading for all pediatric dentistry residents nationwide.
College was first introduced to pediatric dentistry when she became a patient of Dr. Malcolm Strange’s Evergreen practice at age seven. She enjoyed her many dental experiences (e.g. she had many dental needs!) so much that she spent the day with him for her Jefferson County eighth grade “Career Day.” As a college student, she spent her summers and holidays working in the office. She joined the Pediatric Dental Group of Colorado officially in 1997, fulfilling a childhood dream of not only becoming a pediatric dentist but also practicing in the office where she was once a patient. In 2005, she caught the entrepreneur bug after a colleague’s invitation to start a practice at his Littleton location. Kids to College Pediatric Dentistry officially opened its doors in November, 2005, and has been growing into the neighborhood ever since! She and the ladies most recently opened Kids to College up in Evergreen in January, 2012.
Dr. College is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She maintains memberships with the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, and Southwest Society of Pediatric Dentistry. She is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry where she serves as a preceptor in the Advanced Clinical Training and Service Program. Dr. College has served on the board for Kids in Need of Dentistry and has been a volunteer for that organization since she started practicing children’s dentistry.
By way of peer recognition, Courtney has been recognized as one of 5280 Magazine’s top pediatric dentists in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and yet again in 2018!
